 Mechanical Engineer - Pressure Vessel Design

Location: South Africa

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer with experience in Pressure Vessel Design and knowledge of ASME codes and API standards. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related equipment in compliance with industry codes and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related equipment using ASME codes, API standards, and other relevant industry codes and standards typically used in pressure vessel design
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
  • Perform structural and thermal analyses to ensure that designs meet safety and performance requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing, quality, and project management teams to ensure that designs are manufactured and delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Review and evaluate existing designs for compliance with relevant codes and standards, and recommend design modifications as needed.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineers to ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturability, performance, and cost.
  • Provide onsite and offsite construction      support and respond to client and fabricators needs.
  • Prepare fabrication inspection plans.
  • Business development as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Pressure Vessel Design and knowledge of ASME codes and API standards, such as ASME Section VIII Div1 & 2 codes, API 650/620, API 579, and other industry codes and standards typically used in Pressure Vessel design.
  • Proficiency in using design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSYS
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products including Word, Excel, Power Point Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes.
  • Professional registration with an accredited institution.

Engineer – Wastewater Treatment 

Location: South Africa

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Process Engineer with experience in process design and modelling to join our team. As a Wastewater Process Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing wastewater treatment processes, conducting process modelling and simulation, and providing technical support to plant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize wastewater treatment processes, including biological treatment, physical/chemical treatment, and advanced treatment processes.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and control narratives for wastewater treatment systems.
  • Conduct process modelling and simulation using software such as BioWin, SUMO, GPS-X and SUMO, to optimize wastewater treatment processes.
  • Analyze and interpret wastewater treatment data to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
  • Conduct process troubleshooting and provide technical support to plant operations to ensure that wastewater treatment systems are operating optimally.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to wastewater treatment and apply this knowledge to improve process designs.

Requirements:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with specialization in wastewater treatment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment process design and modelling.
  • Proficiency in process modelling software such as BioWin, GPS-X, SUMO, AQUASIM and other related software.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater and sludge treatment processes, including biological treatment, physical/chemical treatment, and advanced treatment processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite Products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small entrepreneurial company.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • A valid South African Driver’s Licence with experience to drive anywhere in South Africa.

Additional Beneficial Skills

  • Building and using spreadsheet tools and/or models
  • Statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of low-cost sanitation technologies particularly decentralised and on-site treatment systems
  • AUTOCAD and/or other drawing generating software
  • Preparation of tenders and proposals
